Digital and print media designers create printed or digital media products such as brochures, catalogues, posters, newspapers, or magazines, and develop design concepts and drafts for digital media. Based on client product requirements, they first prepare image, graphic, text, and video material, create design drafts, and present these to clients using product samples and prototypes. For print media production, they select appropriate printing or manufacturing processes, check, transfer, and convert production data, and ensure quality standards are met.

For digital media production, they pay particular attention to compliance with media law requirements, such as accessibility, as well as quality standards, and are responsible for interactive, audiovisual, or cross-media content. This may involve conducting video and audio recordings, editing image, graphic, video, and audio material, creating visual effects, animations, or 3D objects, and integrating various components into a digital media product.
